George 's story

Served on HMS Turbulent, which was sunk at the Battle of Jutland in the North Sea on 1 June 1916. A total of 6,094 from the British fleet were killed in that battle.

This is the battle at which Jack Cornwell, from Manor Park in Newham, was fatally wounded. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross at age 16 for gallantry.
